However, I have no intention of running windows 10 so I wont be able to help. Perhaps setup an admin account and see if that corrects the issue. When I try and start the game it says 'Please login with administrator privileges and try again' even though I am the administrator.When I right click and run as admin, the screen flashes black (as if it's going to load) and then flashes black again and then nothing happens.
Reinstalling the game doesn't work.
All patches are up-to-date, although when I tried downloading and installing the latest patch just to be sure, it says no version of Civ IV is on my PC, even though it clearly is.

Civ 4 Windows 10 Fix Windows Update
(both of which were posted fairly recently) it seems the issue is with a recent Windows Update. However I don't understand how to implement the fix they're proposing.
